Volunteers
The 2012 Heart & Sole Half Marathon and 10K needs volunteers to help with packet pick-up, act as course marshals, offer water and food at aid stations, hand out finishers’ medals, and assist with post-race food and drink. Volunteers must be at least 12 years of age. All volunteers will receive a race shirt and will also share in the post-race breakfast, depending on their location.
Volunteer Job Descriptions
Race Day Packet Pick-up & Registration
Sunday, August 19 – 5:30 a.m.-7:30 a.m.
Duties include handing out race shirts, hats, race bibs, chips, goodie bags, and also providing race information.

Start Line Assistants
Sunday, August 19 – 5:30 am – 7:30 a.m.
Help prepare the starting line for all the participants Duties include some light set-up of the start line and then assisting participants in the proper area for the race.

Finish Line and Food & Beer Tent
Sunday, August 19 – 7:30 am – 12:00 p.m. (times vary)
Finish Line: Help keep people moving through the finish line, plus hand out water, medals and help with chip removal.
Food Tent/Beer Tent: Help participate in feeding more than 2000 runners and walkers at the buffet-style food tent. Organize, prep and help serve a post-race buffet featuring Salvaggio's sandwiches, Boulder Sausage sandwiches, fresh fruit, yogurt, bagels, popsicles and refreshments including Avery microbrew.

On Course Aid Stations and Course Marshals
Sunday, August 19 – 5:30 am – 12:00 p.m. (times vary)
Aid Stations: Provide runners and walkers with support at our dozen aid stations along the 2 courses. Supplies are delivered in advance; volunteers set up stations and provide water, electrolyte drink, gel, sponges and, at some aid stations, pretzels, bananas and Jolly Ranchers.
Course Marshals: Stand at key intersections along the course, helping to direct and provide encouragement to runners and walkers, working in concert with Boulder County Sheriff’s Department officers.
